Andros Townsend run over by pitch roller during Thai League warmup

Former Premier League winger Andros Townsend appeared to escape serious injury in a freak incident ahead of a Thai League match Saturday.

The 35-year-old, who now plays for Thai club PT Prachuap, was in a passing circle with his teammates at Tinsulanon Stadium when he appeared to chase the ball into the path of a pitch roller being driven by a staffer. Townsend's left leg then got pinned under the machine before the driver quickly jumped out and began attempting to lift it off him.

The former England international, who started in his first two games for Prachuap, later came off the bench with a minute to play in the team's 3-0 win over Pattani FC.

After coming up with Tottenham's academy, Townsend played 15 years in the Premier League before leaving for Turkey's Antalyaspor in 2024. He also scored three goals in 15 caps for England. Townsend spent his first year in Thailand last season as a member of Kanchanaburi Power but left the club following its relegation.
