Foden crowned best men's player at PFA awards

Manchester City's Phil Foden was named the winner of the Professional Footballers' Association's men's player of the year award during Tuesday's ceremony in London.

The 24-year-old's Manchester City teammates Erling Haaland and Rodri, Arsenal's Martin Odegaard, Chelsea's Cole Palmer, and Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins were also nominated for the honor.

Foden was pivotal in helping Manchester City win an unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title with 19 goals and eight assists.

"To win this award is something very special and it is one that I am very proud of and grateful for. To be recognized this way by your fellow professionals means everything and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me," Foden said, according to Agence France-Presse.

"I also want to pay special thanks to Pep (Guardiola), the City coaches and all my teammates as they help me to try and get better every single day."

Palmer was named the PFA's Young Player of the Year after scoring 27 goals in all competitions during his first season with Chelsea.

The PFA's award for the best women's player went to Manchester City forward Khadija "Bunny" Shaw, who had 21 goals and three assists last season.

"I am both happy and proud to have received this award, to be recognized in such a way by my peers is a very special honor," Shaw said.

The men's awards were voted on by fellow professionals in England's top four divisions.

Meanwhile, players from Premier League winners Manchester City and runners-up Arsenal dominated the PFA Premier League Team of the Year:
