The Premier League's third round of coronavirus testing has uncovered four positive results from three different clubs.
Wednesday's statement from the top flight confirmed that the players or club staff who tested positive will now self-isolate for seven days. The results were taken from 1,008 tests conducted on Monday and Tuesday.
Overall, 12 people have tested positive after 2,752 checks across the Premier League. Between 50 and 60 additional tests will be made available to each club for the fourth round of testing.
Premier League clubs unanimously voted to resume contact training in a meeting earlier on Wednesday. The decision means England's elite sides have moved into the second phase of Project Restart. "Squads are now able to train as a group and engage in tackling while minimizing any unnecessary close contact," the Premier League explained in its announcement.
A resumption date for the 2019-20 season could be revealed following Thursday's meeting of Premier League shareholders. June 19 or June 26 have reportedly been identified as potential restart dates.
