Hulking center-back Tyrone Mings is returning to Aston Villa from Bournemouth on a permanent basis for a fee reportedly in the neighborhood of £20 million - a figure that would amount to a club-record sale for the Cherries.
The fee for Mings could potentially rise to £26.5 million with performance-related add-ons, reports Ben Fisher of The Guardian.
Bournemouth announced the move Monday, confirming the fee, which they list as "undisclosed," breaks the previous record of £10.8 million that Newcastle paid for Scotsman Matt Ritchie in 2016.

Mings spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa Park and was a principal part of the team's 10-match winning run and subsequent return to the Premier League following a three-year hiatus in the second tier. The 26-year-old made 18 appearances, chipping in with a pair of goals.
"We're really pleased to have Tyrone back at Aston Villa on a permanent basis," Villa boss Dean Smith said in a statement. "I think everybody could see the connection that he made with the club as a whole and it is excellent news that we can continue the relationship in the Premier League."
