Graham Potter's unconventional rise through the coaching ranks will see the Englishman named the new Swansea City manager.

The recently relegated Swans announced on Monday that a compensation package has been agreed with Swedish minnow Ostersunds for Potter's services, with assistant Billy Reid and recruitment analyst Kyle Macauley set to join the 43-year-old in England's second tier next season.

"The 43-year-old is due in Swansea early next week to complete his move to Wales," the statement added.

Potter takes over for Carlos Carvalhal after the Portuguese tactician decided not to renew his terms at the Liberty Stadium. The Swans finished 18th last season, cementing a return to the Championship after seven seasons in the Premier League.

"Obviously it's a big challenge to take the club back to the Premier League and give them an identity, so it's clear that it's interesting, but there's still a long way to go," Potter told Sky Sports.

Potter led Ostersunds to a shock Swedish Cup victory in 2016-17 after back-to-back promotions in 2012 and 2013. That domestic trophy saw the Allsvenskan qualify for the Europa League, advancing from Group J before bowing out to Arsenal in the Round of 32 despite topping the Gunners 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium. Potter had previously worked as a football development manager for the University of Hull and the Leeds Metropolitan University.
