Ince inches Huddersfield away from drop with 91st-minute winner

Huddersfield Town moved seven points clear of the relegation zone thanks to substitute Tom Ince's injury-time winner against Watford on Saturday.

The Terriers were nearing a home draw with Javi Gracia's holidaying Hornets that would have left them just one position above the dotted line, until Mathias "Zanka" Jorgensen - who had Troy Deeney in his back pocket for most of the affair - turned the ball across goal in the 91st minute to find Ince, who netted from five yards.

It was Huddersfield's first and only shot on target in the match.

Both sides lacked incisiveness in the tie, making for a difficult watch. Steve Mounie had scored Huddersfield's only goal since the end of February and grappled to little avail in attack, while Deeney could only hit one shot which was deflected wide of Jonas Lossl's mesh.

So it was quite fitting the Terriers' winner took an unconventional path - Terence Kongolo, to Zanka, to Ince - and was met with a deafening concoction of surprise and relief in the John Smith's Stadium.

Points may be hard to come by for Huddersfield in its remaining four matches of the season. A visit from Everton in two weeks' time is followed by bouts with Manchester City, Chelsea, and Arsenal.
