Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny's three-match ban for a red card against Southampton has been overturned after the club appealed the Egyptian international's dismissal.
"Mohamed Elneny will be available for Arsenal’s next three games after an Independent Regulatory Commission accepted that he was wrongly dismissed for violent conduct against Southampton on Sunday 8 April 2018," the FA's statement reads.
Elneny was shown a straight red during the later stages of Arsenal's 3-2 victory at the Emirates Stadium after match official Andre Marriner adjudged the player to have raised his hands against Saints full-back Cedric Soares. The incident capped off a frenzied stretch where Jack Stephens was sent off for similar conduct against Jack Wilshere, with the England midfielder shown yellow for ripping the Southampton defender's shirt.
With Elneny's ban overturned, the angular midfielder is available to play in Arsenal's next three league tilts against Newcastle, Manchester United, and West Ham as Arsene Wenger opts for an alternative starting XI in the league with eyes on Europa League progression.
