Report: Ozil telling Arsenal teammates he'll sign with Manchester United
Mesut Ozil is so confident of a switch to Manchester United that he has started telling his Arsenal teammates of the potential move, reports John Cross of the Mirror.
The 29-year-old has lost his starting spot under Arsene Wenger as he dealt with a knee issue through September, and has not put pen to paper on a new deal with the Gunners. His current contract expires at the end of the season, allowing him to leave the Emirates Stadium for free, a prospect Wenger mulled and admitted he would like to avoid - potentially, with a January sale.
Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho - who has admitted he regards Ozil among the finest No. 10s in football - is keen to reunite with the player he worked with at Real Madrid, while also weakening Wenger's ranks.
Cross reports Ozil's representatives are asking for a £350,000-a-week deal, while the Gunners offered up to £275,000 per week last season. He adds that Arsenal's interest in keeping Ozil has "cooled" since then.
