Injured Ibrahimovic gets nod for United's Champions League campaign
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was named in Manchester United's Champions League squad which was released on Monday.
His inclusion suggests he'll be available for selection before the conclusion of United's group stage commitments against CSKA Moscow on Dec. 12, despite the 35-year-old suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in April.
Ibrahimovic was re-signed by Manchester United a week before the close of the summer transfer window after showing remarkable progress in his rehabilitation from his setback. He's expected to challenge or partner Romelu Lukaku in the Red Devils' attack when fit.
There was also room for James Wilson in the squad due to Marcus Rashford's eligibility for the B list as he's aged under 21. Wilson hasn't appeared for United since a League Cup defeat to Middlesbrough in Oct. 2015, and began last season on loan at Derby County. His stay at Pride Park was cut short in October because of a serious knee injury.
If United successfully navigates a Champions League group featuring CSKA Moscow, FC Basel, and Benfica, Jose Mourinho can make three changes to his squad ahead of the knockout rounds.
