Morgan Schneiderlin is close to leaving Old Trafford after Manchester United accepted a bid reportedly worth £22 million from Everton.

After rejecting Everton's initial bid, believed to be worth £19 million, United is prepared to accept the Merseyside club's improved offer and officially part ways with Schneiderlin within the next 48 hours, John Percy of the Telegraph reports.

United and Everton have struggled to find a resolution, but Percy says the two clubs "reached a breakthrough" Tuesday.

A reported move for Schneiderlin comes just days after Everton boss Ronald Koeman voiced his frustrations over his team's transfer policy, insisting that he knows what reinforcements need to be introduced in order to improve the club's form.

"I hope everybody realises what the team needs to get results that are the expectation of this football club," Koeman said after Everton's elimination from the FA Cup at the hands of Leicester City.

Schneiderlin - who was also linked with a move to West Brom - will travel to Finch Farm training ground where he will undergo a medical before finalising the move.

It's believed that United was ready to refuse any offers for Schneiderlin if bids did not come close to the £24 million Southampton accepted in 2015 when he was shipped off to Old Trafford.

However, Percy reports that Everton's offer could reach £24 million with performance-related add-ons.

Everton might not be finished poaching United's wantaway players after being linked with Memphis Depay.
