Joey Barton's Rangers career is on the verge of ending just six months after he signed a two-year contract with the Scottish outfit.
The English midfielder's contract is expected to be terminated by mutual consent Wednesday, sources revealed to Jim White of Sky Sports.
Previous reports suggested Barton had been granted time away from Rangers due to stress, while the sides negotiated a severance package.
Formerly of Manchester City and Newcastle, Barton's looming exit comes less than two months after he was involved in a training ground bust-up with teammate Andy Halliday. Barton was subsequently suspended by the team for three weeks before the Scottish side decided to extend the ban.
