London, Aug 30, 2022 (AFP) - Sheffield United climbed to the top of the Championship in style with a 4-0 win at home to previous leaders Reading on Tuesday.

Thoughts that a meeting between what had been the top two sides would be a close encounter were brushed aside as the Blades dominated at Bramall Lane.

Oli McBurnie opened the scoring with a header from Max Lowe's cross on 11 minutes and Anel Ahmedhodzic volleyed in from a corner just seconds into the second half.

Iliman Ndiaye put the result beyond doubt shortly after the hour mark and Ahmedhodzic completed the scoring with a header 10 minutes from time.

Reading dropped to fifth in the table after wins elsewhere for Norwich, Burnley and Watford.

Norwich were behind at Birmingham following Scott Hogan's 50th-minute goal, but equalised through Andrew Omobamidele and snatched a 2-1 win in stoppage time through Onel Hernandez.

Watford too left it late to beat Middlesbrough by the same scoreline as they celebrated 100 years at Vicarage Road.

Rodrigo Muniz put the visitors ahead in just the fourth minute, only for Ismaila Sarr to equalise and Vakoun Bayo to score Watford's winner in added time.

Burnley climbed to third thanks to Brazilian defender Vitinho's close-range header in the 62nd minute and Jay Rodriguez's goal 10 minutes later in a 2-0 win over Millwall.

QPR are now sixth after a 3-1 win at home to Hull.

Ilias Chair curled a brilliant opener into the top corner at Loftus Road after just 10 minutes and goals from Manchester United loanee Ethan Laird and Chris Willock put the result beyond doubt before Tyler Smith's late consolation effort for Hull.

Second-half goals from Luke Freeman and substitute Gabriel Osho gave Luton a 2-1 win at Cardiff, with Romaine Sawyers firing home six minutes from time to set up a nervy finish.

Wigan and West Brom shared the points in a 1-1 draw, with Josh Magennis's strike cancelled out by Karlan Grant's goal for the Baggies.
