Championship leaders Norwich boost promotion push with 5th straight win
London, Feb 28, 2021 (AFP) - Norwich powered seven points clear at the top of the Championship with a 2-0 win at bottom-of-the-table Wycombe on Sunday.
Daniel Farke's side are on course for an immediate return to the Premier League after last season's relegation.
Their fifth successive victory was secured thanks to goals from Teemu Pukki and Adam Idah.
Lowly Wycombe kept the visitors goalless for 51 minutes, but an 18th goal of the season for Pukki broke the deadlock and Idah wrapped things up three minutes from time.
Norwich are 10 points clear of third-placed Watford in the race for automatic promotion via a top-two finish.
The Canaries' comfortable win was the perfect preparation for Wednesday's crucial clash with second-placed Brentford at Carrow Road.
Wycombe remain 11 points from safety and looked destined to return to League One after a difficult first season in the second tier.
