London, July 7, 2020 (AFP) - Brentford produced a dramatic late comeback to close to within two points of the automatic promotion places at the top of the Championship with a 2-1 win over Charlton on Tuesday.

The Addicks led through an eighth-minute goal from Macauley Bonne, but Said Benrahma levelled from the penalty spot before Ethan Pinnock headed the winner five minutes from time.

The Bees' late win narrowed the gap to second-placed West Brom and Thomas Frank's men close to within three points of league leaders Leeds.

"This is a massive win. I'll not stand here and say this didn't mean anything, it was a big win," said Frank, whose side have won all five games since the season restarted last month.

"We know every game is a big win, but I just had a feeling because of all the circumstances, that this game would be very, very difficult."

West Brom face Derby on Wednesday, while Leeds host Stoke on Thursday.

Fulham also stayed in the race for a top-two finish as Harry Arter hit the only goal of the game to sink Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground.

Arter let fly from outside the box with a left-foot shot into the top corner, handing the Cottagers their third straight win and moving them within four points of the Baggies.

The result also marked fifth-placed Forest's first defeat since the season's restart, and almost certainly means they will have to settle for a place in the play-offs.

Cardiff missed the chance to cement their place in the playoffs after twice blowing the lead to lose 3-2 at home to Blackburn.

A 1-1 draw between the bottom two did little for Luton and Barnsley's chances of beating the drop.

Huddersfield moved two points clear of the bottom three with a goalless draw at Reading.
