Sterling left out of England squad as Eze earns 1st call-up
Raheem Sterling was omitted from the England squad for June's Euro 2024 qualifiers, while Eberechi Eze earned his first international call-up after an impressive end to the season with Crystal Palace.
Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate said he recently spoke to Sterling, and the winger revealed he wasn't happy with his physical condition while he deals with a hamstring issue, courtesy of Football Daily. The 28-year-old has struggled for form since joining Chelsea from Manchester City last summer.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Lewis Dunk, and Tyrone Mings were recalled for the matches against Malta and North Macedonia. Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope missed out because he's set to undergo hand surgery.
