Report: Security threats to Ozil, Kolasinac involved arrests of 2 men
Two men were arrested Thursday night following an altercation with security staff outside Mesut Ozil's north London home, according to The Telegraph's Sam Dean.
Ozil and teammate Sead Kolasinac will miss Arsenal's season opener at Newcastle United on Sunday due to what the club described as "further security incidents which are being investigated by police." The incidents are believed to be linked to an attempted carjacking of the pair on July 25 by thieves armed with knives.
One of the subsequent threats to Ozil and Kolasinac was the reported incident outside the former's home. Ferhat Ercan and Salaman Ekinci were charged under Section 4a of the Public Order Act a day after being apprehended by police and are set to appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court next month, Dean understands.
There have been at least two security concerns since Kolasinac appeared to fend off their attackers in London last month. The players were unharmed after fleeing to a nearby Turkish restaurant, and Kolasinac tweeted, "Think we're fine" a day later with a picture of him and Ozil smiling during Arsenal's preseason tour.
