Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been charged by The Football Association for allegedly making inappropriate comments following his club's 3-2 comeback victory over Newcastle on Oct. 6, per a statement by The FA.

Immediately following the full-time whistle, Mourinho was seen on cameras appearing to mumble a phrase in Portuguese that translates to "sons of b------" in English.

"It is alleged that his language at the end of the fixture, as captured by the broadcast footage, was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper," the FA said in the statement.

The Portuguese manager could face a touchline ban for the remarks. Mourinho has until 6 p.m. on Friday to respond to The FA's charge. United travel to Stamford Bridge the following day to take on Mourinho's old club Chelsea.

After the opening 10 minutes of the match on Oct. 6, United quickly found themselves down 2-0 to Newcastle courtesy of goals from Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto. The Red Devils authored a jarring comeback entirely within the final 20 minutes, however, with Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, and Alexis Sanchez all finding the net to give United the unlikely win.

According to reports from earlier that same weekend, Mourinho was expected to be dismissed as the United boss after the Newcastle match - regardless of the result. In an interview immediately following the victory, Mourinho complained he was the victim of a "man hunt" at the club.
