Premier League heavyweights Liverpool and Manchester United are weighing the option of throwing their respective hats in the ring for the services of Arsenal contract misfit Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey, whose current terms with the north London lot expire on June 30, appears set to leave either on a cut-rate January move or for free in the summer, and Liverpool and United are monitoring the Welshman's situation, according to the Evening Standard's James Olley.

Contract talks between Ramsey and Arsenal are at an impasse, and with the 27-year-old free to negotiate elsewhere once the winter transfer window opens, senior figures within the club reportedly believe that at least one of England's other footballing juggernauts will look to take advantage.

According to Olley, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is an admirer of Ramsey, with the German gaffer looking to strengthen the midfield after a deal in excess of £50 million for Lyon's Nabil Fekir dissolved during the summer window.

Previous reports suggested that Serie A trio Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter are all monitoring the situation with Arsenal's longest-serving player, though it's understood Ramsey prefers to stay in England.
