Tottenham Hotspur took a 3-1 lead over Fulham after 77 minutes of Saturday's meeting, and no one at Wembley was more relieved than Harry Kane.

The striker scored his first Premier League goal in August in his 15th attempt, and with his 49th shot in the calendar month. The duck was broken when he nicked yards from Calum Chambers with a clever switch of foot before sliding the ball into the far corner.

There were further chances for Tottenham to extend their lead, but Kane's side-footer was the final goal of the match.

Lucas Moura opened the scoring for Spurs in the 43rd minute with a first-time, curling effort past Fabri, but Fulham weren't overawed by their London rivals. The Cottagers were rewarded for a more positive outlook in the second period when a grounded Aleksandar Mitrovic stretched to nod home Ryan Sessegnon's cutback.

Kieran Trippier put Spurs back in the lead when he posted a free-kick into the top corner - evoking memories of his set-piece against Croatia at the World Cup - before Kane doubled the hosts' advantage three minutes later.
