Paderborn continue yo-yo existence with relegation from Bundesliga
Life as a Paderborn fan can be painful, but it certainly isn't boring.
Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Union Berlin confirmed the North Rhine-Westphalian club's demotion from the Bundesliga. Paderborn have now finished in a relegation or promotion place in each of the last seven seasons.

Head coach Steffen Baumgart tried to shake up his lineup for the trip to the capital by starting with a three-man defense. His side couldn't respond, however, after a Union set-piece in the 27th minute found the back of the net thanks to a heavy deflection off Ben Zolinski's head. Paderborn's rough luck was foreshadowed earlier in the fixture when captain Christian Strohdiek was forced to withdraw with an injury.
With the win, Union Berlin are mathematically assured of their Bundesliga status for the 2020-21 campaign.
