Pizarro becomes oldest Bundesliga scorer ever with last-gasp strike
Claudio Pizarro is now the oldest Bundesliga goal-scorer of all time after the 40-year-old's 96th-minute free-kick rescued a draw for Werder Bremen Saturday against Hertha Berlin.

At 40 years, four months, and 13 days, Pizarro overtakes Mikro Votava for the distinction. Votava previously set the record in 1996, when, while also with Werder Bremen, he scored against Stuttgart at the age of 40 years, three months, and 30 days.
The timely goal was Pizarro's 195th in Germany's top flight, ranking him fifth all time in the competition behind Gerd Muller, Klaus Fischer, Jupp Heynckes, and Manfred Burgsmuller. The Peruvian striker is also the only player to ever score in the league in 21 consecutive calendar years - he scored his first Bundesliga goal on Sept. 12, 1999 against Kaiserslautern.
The draw keeps Werder Bremen a single point behind Herta Berlin for ninth place in the Bundesliga table.
