Xabi Alonso charged by UEFA over Champions League celebration
UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso on Tuesday following Saturday's Champions League final.
Alonso, who was suspended for the final, was charged for "breaching the general codes of conduct" after he made a mad dash from the stands to celebrate with his teammates when Gareth Bale scored the game-winning goal in extra time.

While the incident immediately went viral - and for good reason with Alonso showing the exuberance of a young child in celebrating the goal - the fact remains that he did indeed break the rules, coming out of the stands and onto the sidelines despite being suspended for the match.
The case will go before UEFA's control and disciplinary body on July 17.
