ZAGREB, Aug 22, 2013 (AFP) - Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb have fired their coach Krunoslav Jurcic following their 2-0 Champions League qualifying defeat against Austria Vienna on Wednesday.

The team now face a mountain to climb in the second leg next week when they must score at least twice in Vienna in order to reach the group stages.

It is the third time, Zagreb have released the 43-year-old from his post following spells in 2008-2009 and a seven month stint in 2011.

Jurcic won four Croatian titles as a player with Zagreb and also coached the team to championships in 2009, 2010 and 2013.

Club president Zdravko Mamic has reportedly told local media that he wants to bring back Franco-Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic who is currently head coach of Algeria.

The former Ivory Coast, Paris Saint-Germain, Lille and Nantes coach quit Dinamo in May 2011 after a dispute with Mamic, just nine months after taking the job.
