Chelsea forward Bertrand Traore has signed a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge, and in doing so, has agreed to join Amsterdam giant Ajax on a season-long loan.
The deal and subsequent loan move were announced Friday with a statement on Chelsea's website.
The 20-year-old Burkina Faso-born forward was originally on the books through the end of this season after progressing from Chelsea's academy in 2014. His new deal will see him at the club until summer 2019 on the heels of last season's Blues debut and first goal against MK Dons in the League Cup.
Traore ended last campaign with four goals, and impressed amid a season of flux that witnessed both injuries and startling drops in form to a forward trio of Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Radamel Falcao.
The loan move marks Traore's second spell in the Eredivisie after a temporary switch to Chelsea's Dutch little sister Vitesse Arnhem for the 2014-15 season, where he scored 17 times in 48 appearances.
Traore will be in Ajax's squad for the first leg of a Champions League qualifier Tuesday against Russian minnow Rostov.
