Edmonton HC Milanovich resigns to pursue NFL opportunities
Edmonton Football Team head coach Scott Milanovich is stepping down from his post to pursue NFL opportunities, the club announced Monday.
“Scott informed me this morning that he was resigning as the head coach of the Edmonton Football Team to accept a position in the NFL,” general manager and vice president of football operations Brock Sunderland said.
Edmonton hired Milanovich in December 2019, and his resignation comes before he was able to coach a game as the team's sideline boss.
“It’s disappointing that he was never able to coach a game for our organization due to the pandemic," Sunderland added. "We wish Scott and his family all the best in his future endeavors.”
Milanovich has reportedly been linked to the quarterbacks coach position with the Indianapolis Colts and is considering the job, according to TSN's Farhan Lalji.
The 48-year-old has logged stints in the CFL and NFL. He previously served as the head coach of the Toronto Argonauts until 2016 before moving to become the quarterbacks coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017 to 2019.
Edmonton will begin searching for its next head coach immediately.
