Argos storm back late to stun Stampeders, win Grey Cup

The Toronto Argonauts are Grey Cup champions for the 17th time in franchise history after orchestrating an improbable comeback to defeat the Calgary Stampeders 27-24 in the 105th edition of the game at TD Place Stadium in Ottawa.

Despite blizzard-like conditions, Argos quarterback Ricky Ray was efficient for most of the game, amassing 297 yards through the air and connecting with DeVier Posey on a 100-yard touchdown early on. Posey, meanwhile, was named the Grey Cup's MVP thanks to an incredible performance that saw him rack up 175 receiving yards.

The Boatmen rallied from a 24-16 deficit late in the fourth quarter, as defensive back Cassius Vaughn scooped up a fumble by Stampeders wide receiver Kamar Jorden and returned it to the house for a 109-yard touchdown. The Argos then tied the game with a two-point conversion from fullback Declan Cross - his second of the Grey Cup.

After a clutch stop on defense, the Argos - led by Ray - moved the ball downfield with ease and took the lead on a 32-yard field goal from Lirim Hajrullahu. Then, despite a valiant effort from Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell on the ensuing drive, Toronto sealed the victory with an interception by Matt Black.

The win marked Ray's fourth career Grey Cup and his second with the Argonauts. Additionally, it was head coach Marc Trestman's third Grey Cup win, but his first with the Argos after joining the team in the offseason.
