Germany manager Joachim Low has extended his stay with the defending World Cup champion, putting pen to paper on a contract extension until 2022.

The German FA (DFB) announced on Tuesday that Low has added two years to his current terms, meaning the 58-year-old will be at the helm through the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The contracts of assistant coach Thomas Schneider and goalkeeper coach Andreas Kopke have also been extended.

Appointed Die Mannschaft manager in 2006, Low steered Germany to the 2014 World Cup and a No. 1 FIFA ranking.

"The planning horizon over four years is ideal, I'd like to think, especially because there might be some changes in the squad after the 2018 World Cup," Low said during a press conference Tuesday.

Germany also announced its provisional World Cup squad on Tuesday, with the most notable omission being Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze, who scored the extra-time winner in the 2014 final.
