Stuttgart defender Federico Barba made up for a first-half own goal with a deft backheel effort to bring the visitors within a goal Monday at Werder Bremen.
Bremen entered the match languishing in a 16th-place relegation-playoff spot, though a win would vault it above Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart into 15th. Claudio Pizarro scored 10 minutes later to regain a two-goal advantage for the home side.
