Gervonta Davis defended his WBA regular lightweight title with a sixth-round technical knockout victory over Rolando Romero at Barclays Center.

Davis unleashed a vicious left with just under 40 seconds remaining in the round that sent Romero flying into the ropes. Romero got up but couldn't regain his legs, leading the referee to stop the fight.

At the time of the knockout, Davis was ahead 49-46 and 48-47 on two of the three judges' cards. The third scorecard had Romero leading 48-47.

Romero left the ring moments after the fight was called and declined to be interviewed by the Showtime broadcast, according to boxing insider Dan Rafael. It's his first loss in 15 professional fights.

For "Tank," the victory moved his record to 27-0, with 25 wins coming via knockout. It was the third successful defense of his lightweight belt.
