Puerto Rican boxer Felix Verdejo faces multiple charges relating to the death of a 27-year-old woman, according to an FBI criminal complaint that Lance Pugmire of The Athletic obtained.

Verdejo turned himself in to authorities in Puerto Rico on Sunday night. He has been charged with kidnapping resulting in death, carjacking resulting in death, and intentionally killing an unborn child.

Keishla Rodriguez, who her family says was pregnant with Verdejo's child, was found dead in a lagoon in San Juan, Puerto Rico, several days after first being reported missing, according to The Associated Press. Dental records were needed to identify her body.

The FBI complaint alleges Verdejo punched Rodriguez in the face, injected her with a syringe containing a substance, and then restrained her arms and feet with help from an unidentified witness, according to ESPN. It's alleged that Verdejo then tied a heavy block to her and threw Rodriguez off a bridge before shooting at her.

Rodriguez's mother, Keila Ortiz, told reporters that she received a call from her daughter before she disappeared on Thursday, according to the AP. She said Rodriguez told her that Verdejo was coming over to see the results of her pregnancy test. Ortiz added that she told Rodriguez to "be careful" because he had already threatened her.

Verdejo and his attorneys previously declined to comment, according to the AP.

His promoters, Top Rank Boxing, said in a statement obtained by ESPN that "thoughts and prayers are with Keishla Marlen Rodriguez Ortiz's family and friends, and with all those in mourning. We are deeply disturbed by the news reports, and we will continue to monitor developments in the case as it progresses."

Verdejo represented Puerto Rico at the 2012 Summer Olympics. He's fought professionally since that year.
