Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro has won the BNP Paribas Open, defeating No. 1 Roger Federer in the final, 6-4, 6-7(8), 7-6(2).
The win, which earns del Potro the first Masters 1000 title of his career, also snaps Federer's 17-match win streak.
The 29-year-old had to stave off match point by Federer on three occasions in the final set, setting up the deciding tiebreaker where he finally overcame the top-ranked Swiss star.

"I feel frustrated that I let an opportunity like this go by," Federer said after the match, courtesy of The Associated Press.
Del Potro, 29, is now the only Argentine winner in the history of the tournament.
