Shaq's trainer lied to him about padding before AEW table spot
Shaquille O'Neal's trainer wasn't completely honest about what the NBA legend's AEW tag-team match would entail.
O'Neal teamed up with Jade Cargill to defeat Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet on the March 3 episode of AEW Dynamite, which included Shaq getting put through a table. To convince O'Neal to go through with the table spot, his trainer QT Marshall lied and said the fall would be cushioned.
"He said something about maybe going through some tables and I told him, 'Oh it won't be that bad, we'll put a really thick pad underneath,' which was not true," Marshall recently told Stephanie Chase of Digital Spy. "I just didn't want him to back out of it.
"So it was a lot of fun, as soon as he came in the back, right away, he said, 'You lied to me! There was no pad under there!' That's wrestling, welcome to wrestling," Marshall added.
O'Neal is no stranger to the world of professional wrestling after also making several WCW and WWE appearances. There's no word yet on whether he plans to return to AEW.
