Hulk Hogan vs. Gawker lawsuit could be turned into TV series or movie
Hulk Hogan's legal battle with Gawker may soon get the television treatment.
David A. Neuman's Blackrock Productions has acquired the rights to the Ryan Holiday-penned book "Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker and the Anatomy of Intrigue," which it hopes to develop into a limited TV series or film, according to Deadline's Anthony D'Alessandro.
"We're very far along in exploring both options," Neuman said. "The talent we're talking to will help us tip the scale one way or another."
Hogan - real name Terry Gene Bollea - was awarded $115 million in damages from Gawker in 2016 after the media outlet published a portion of his leaked sex tape. It was later revealed that Thiel, who co-founded PayPal and was one of Facebook's earliest investors, had secretly spent about $10 million to help finance Bollea's lawsuit.
The lawsuit was already the focus of a Netflix documentary titled "Nobody Speak: Hulk Hogan, Gawker and Trials of a Free Press," which was released last year.
