Germany survived a French onslaught to advance to the semifinals of the Women's World Cup, but there seems to have been a casualty along the way.
The Germans could be without the services of star midfielder Dzsenifer Marozsan for Tuesday's semifinal against the United States, as the 23-year-old is dealing with a hyperextended left ankle - an injury she suffered late in extra time of the quarterfinal win over France.
The Associated Press explains:
After the shootout, Germany coach Silvia Neid said Marozsan's ankle was swollen and she didn't know how she walked to the spot to take the kick.
Marozsan, who's been limited throughout the tournament due to a host of ailments, converted her penalty, helping Germany emerge from the match with a 5-4 shootout win.
