Bianca Andreescu's meteoric rise continues unabated.

By virtue of the Canadian teenager's historic victory over Serena Williams in the US Open final on Saturday, Andreescu will soar to No. 5 in the world when the latest edition of the WTA rankings are released on Monday.

The fearless 19-year-old became the first Canadian to capture a Grand Slam singles title when she downed the iconic Williams, showing off her combination of raw power and finesse to outduel the 23-time major champion.

Andreescu, the breakout star on the WTA tour this year, began 2019 ranked No. 152 in the world.

Above her, Ashleigh Barty will retain the No. 1 slot, with Karolina Pliskova, Elina Svitolina, and 2018 US Open champion Naomi Osaka rounding out the top spots.
