Danilo to miss rest of World Cup after injuring ankle
Danilo's World Cup campaign is over.
The Brazilian right-back underwent tests on Friday for his injured ankle, which revealed that he'll be unable to overcome the injury before the conclusion of the World Cup, the Brazilian football federation said.
The Manchester City footballer damaged a ligament in his ankle during Thursday's training session a day before Brazil's quarter-final clash with Belgium.
The 26-year-old will remain with the squad while he undergoes treatment.
It's the second injury that Danilo has suffered since arriving in Russia. After starting Brazil's opener against Switzerland, he was forced to miss the following two matches with a hip problem that he suffered during training.
Despite returning to fitness ahead of Brazil's round of 16 clash with Mexico, head coach Tite elected to go with Fagner as his preferred starting right-back.
