Speedskater Isabelle Weidemann will carry Canada's flag for the closing ceremonies of the 2022 Beijing Games on Sunday night, the Canadian Olympic Committee announced.

"It's such an honor to be carrying the Canadian flag in the closing ceremony," Weidemann said. "It's just been such a crazy end to such an unbelievable week here at the Olympics. I'm just so, so honored."

Weidemann was a star in Beijing, winning Canada's first medal of the Games with a bronze in the 3,000 meters on Day 1. It was the first long-track speedskating medal won by a Canadian woman since 2010 Vancouver. She followed that up a few days later with a silver in the 5,000 meters.

Weidemann then completed her set of Beijing medals with a dramatic gold in the team pursuit after a Japanese skater fell on the final turn.
