New York Liberty sharpshooter Betnijah Laney-Hamilton is expected to miss five-to-six months after undergoing a procedure to repair an acute meniscus injury in her left knee, the team announced Monday.

Laney-Hamilton joined the Liberty in 2021 and helped the franchise win the 2024 WNBA title. She started every postseason game during the championship run, including all five contests in the finals, and exploded for 20 points in Game 2 against the Minnesota Lynx. She's also a two-time All-Defensive team nominee and was sent to the 2021 All-Star Game.

She started 25 of her 28 games last season and shot over 40% from three for the second time in her career.

Laney-Hamilton will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2025 campaign.

The WNBA regular season is scheduled to begin May 16 and will run until Sept. 11.
