Phoenix Mercury star Diana Taurasi will miss the rest of the season due to a quad injury, the team announced Monday, according to The Associated Press' Tim Reynolds.

In a corresponding move, the Mercury signed guard Yvonne Turner to a hardship contract.

The Mercury sit at 14-19, good for the eighth-best record in the league. The team has yet to clinch a playoff spot with three regular-season contests remaining against the Minnesota Lynx, Dallas Wings, and Chicago Sky.

Phoenix was defeated in the WNBA Finals last season by Chicago in four games.

Three playoff spots remain up for grabs as the Sky, Las Vegas Aces, Connecticut Sun, Seattle Storm, and Washington Mystics have clinched postseason berths.

The 40-year-old is one of the most decorated players in WNBA history. The league's all-time scoring leader has won three championships and two MVPs with the Mercury over her 18 seasons.

Taurasi averaged 16.7 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.4 rebounds in 31 games this season for the Mercury.
