The Chicago Sky are re-signing reigning Finals MVP Kahleah Copper to a multi-year contract, a source told the Chicago Sun-Times' Annie Costabile.

The Sky had used the core player designation on Copper earlier in January, granting the team exclusive negotiating rights with the 6-foot-1 wing.

The 27-year-old established herself as one of the game's top young players over her breakout 2020 and 2021 seasons. In 54 combined appearances, Copper averaged 14.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 31 minutes per game.

The Sky also came to terms with former Washington Mystics standout Emma Meesseman, Winsidr's Rachel Galligan reports.

The 6-foot-4 floor-spacer sat out the 2021 season to train with the Belgian national team ahead of the Olympics. In seven seasons in D.C., the 28-year-old averaged 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game with 37.6% shooting on threes. Meesseman was named Finals MVP in 2019 for her efforts in leading the Mystics to the championship.

News of Meesseman's imminent addition comes in the wake of Stefanie Dolson's reported departure. The similarly built big is apparently leaving the Sky to join her home-state New York Liberty.

Contracts cannot be officially signed until Feb. 1.
