Finals rematch highlights WNBA's season-opening May 14-15 weekend

The WNBA unveiled its upcoming season schedule Tuesday, with the 2021 campaign set to tip off May 14 and wrap Sept. 19.
Instead of the previously announced 36-game schedule, each team will play 32 games in 2021 - three matches against 10 of the other teams and two versus the 11th team.
With the Tokyo Olympics set to take place this summer, the WNBA season will go on hiatus July 12 and resume Aug. 15.
The opening weekend features a rematch of the 2020 Finals, with Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, and the reigning champion Seattle Storm hosting A'ja Wilson's Las Vegas Aces.

Before opening weekend, the next event on the WNBA schedule is the 2021 entry draft. Barring a trade, the Dallas Wings will make the first overall selection on Thursday, April 14.
