The men's and women's basketball oversight committee will propose a Nov. 25 season start date to the Division I council for the 2020-21 campaign, CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein reports.

NCAA Senior vice president Dan Gavitt previously said the organization would decide on the upcoming season's start date in mid-September.

This news comes more than three weeks after the Pac-12 decided to postpone basketball games until at least the start of 2021, essentially eliminating its non-conference schedule. No other conference has delayed the start of their basketball seasons, and it remains unclear how the Division I council's decision could influence the Pac-12's stance.

Gavitt and NCAA president Mark Emmert have also both acknowledged alternative plans already in the works, possibly allowing March Madness to go forward with its traditional format.
