Wayne Rooney isn't ready to call time on his Manchester United career.
After months of speculation over the United captain's future as he struggles for playing time under manager Jose Mourinho, Rooney revealed he would like to extend his career.
He insisted that he has not made a fuss over his reduced role this term, but admitted he would prefer to contribute more on the pitch.
"I've been at this club 13 years," Rooney told reporters, courtesy of the BBC, ahead of United's Europa League semi-final encounter with Celta Vigo on Thursday at Old Trafford. "I want to play football here.
"The more I can play, the better for me and the more I feel I can help the team.
"I have not thrown my toys out of the pram. This club will be successful under Jose Mourinho."
Rooney has only started 12 of his 24 Premier League appearances, as Mourinho seemingly prefers to deploy him in the starting XI when the Red Devils compete outside of the league.
The 31-year-old's lack of playing time has led to several reports suggesting the end is near for United's all-time leading scorer. Outside of Everton and West Ham, who have reportedly expressed an interest, Rooney has allegedly attracted attention from abroad following Tianjin Quanjian manager Fabio Cannavaro's admission that he made an approach to lure Rooney to the Chinese Super League.
In the meantime, Rooney is focusing on adding another trophy to United's collection and getting back into the Champions League.
"It is a long, hard competition - an opportunity to win a trophy and it is a big chance for us tomorrow night," he said.
"It is important to be back in Champions League. Realistically this will be difficult through the league."
