Cody Gakpo's reaction said it all.

The Liverpool forward put his hands on his head in astonishment after teammate Harvey Elliott unleashed a sensational left-footed strike that flew into the top corner during Sunday's 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The midfielder's 59th-minute effort gave Jurgen Klopp's side a 4-0 lead at Anfield. Mohamed Salah, restored to the starting lineup after last week's touchline spat with Klopp, opened the scoring on the day. Andy Robertson and Gakpo also found the net before Elliott's beautiful tally.

Tottenham made a late push with a pair of quick goals, but the Reds regained their composure to see out the win.

"It's a little bit of a mirror of the season. Really, really, really good until we were really rubbish and then, we were okay again," the outgoing Klopp said after his penultimate match at Anfield. "The moment you let them play, immediately, you see what they can do. If you don't let them play, then you can hurt them."

Though Liverpool's title bid has faded, they are guaranteed to finish no lower than third in the table.

Spurs, after four successive losses, are now unlikely to overtake Aston Villa for fourth place and the league's final Champions League berth.
