Erling Haaland missed Manchester City's FA Cup semifinal win over Chelsea on Saturday because of an undisclosed injury.

Prior to kickoff, City manager Pep Guardiola told BBC Sport that Haaland may not return in time for City's Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday.

Losing the Norwegian sharpshooter for any amount of time could harm City's chances of defending their Premier League title. The reigning champions have a two-point lead atop the table with six games remaining in the season.

Julian Alvarez replaced Haaland in Guardiola's lineup for the 1-0 victory at Wembley Stadium. Bernardo Silva ended up scoring the decisive goal in the 84th minute.

Kevin De Bruyne also starred in midfield after overcoming a bout of fatigue.

Haaland was substituted before the start of extra time in City's Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Real Madrid on Wednesday. Guardiola later revealed the 23-year-old had asked to be replaced.
