Bologna promoted to Serie A
Welcome back, Bologna F.C. 1909!
Only one year since they were relegated from Serie A, Bologna marked their return to the top flight of Italian football by earning a 1-1 draw versus Delfino Pescara 1936 on Tuesday, a result that allowed Delio Rossi's side to achieve promotion following a scoreless draw in the first leg of the promotion play-off.

Under traditional circumstances, Pescara's away goal would have been the deciding factor following two draws. However, the Serie B promotion play-off operates using a different format, as a pair of draws result in the side that finished higher up the table achieving top-flight status.
Gianluca Sansone was the one to put Bologna ahead at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara in the 37th minute. Cristian Pasquato then equalised shortly after the interval.
The final whistle triggered wild scenes as Bologna supporters celebrated their club's promotion with a vintage pitch invasion.
