Juventus completed the signing of Italian goalkeeper Mattia Perin from Genoa on Friday for an initial €12-million fee, according to a club statement.
Perin will now battle Wojciech Szczesny for the right to be Gianluigi Buffon's successor.
The deal could cost a further €3 million if certain bonuses are achieved.
Juventus recruited Szczesny last summer with the expectation that he would replace Buffon for the 2018-19 season. Now that Perin has arrived, the situation is a little more unclear.
Perin spent the last 10 years at Genoa, honing his skills as a brilliant shot-stopper while earning call-ups to the Italian national team. A pair of knee injuries in 2016 and 2017 threatened to derail the 25-year-old's career, but instead of regressing, he rediscovered himself, saving 75 percent of the shots he faced last season.
