Report: Wayne Gretzky warned Dustin Johnson to clean up his act
According to a source connected to golf, Wayne Gretzky warned Dustin Johnson to clean up his act or he would call off the wedding between Johnson and his daughter Paulina.
The source told Fox411, "He's had drug problems for a while and the PGA always tried to keep it on the low. But because of his high-profile relationship, people figured it would come out sooner or later."
Paulina, 25, and Johnson, 30, planned to marry in the fall of this year, but called the date off, deciding to wait until Johnson's schedule slowed down.
According to the source, Wayne wasn't looking to scare Johnson, but to offer guidance.
"We’re told that the family was aware of his penchant for partying and that Wayne sought to be a positive influence and offer help."
Johnson stepped back from golf after withdrawing from the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational before he began his round. It was then announced he would be taking six months away from golf to "seek professional help for personal challenges."
Neither Wayne nor Paulina have commented on the report.
