The conditions were again ripe for a scoring run at Royal Birkdale on Sunday, and Cameron Young rose to the challenge with an incredible charge at The Open.
Although Young began his fourth round seven strokes off Sam Burns' lead, he's now the clubhouse leader at 9-under following a 6-under 64. His score Sunday marks the lowest round of the day and just two strokes shy of the lowest round in major championship history, which had already been matched three times this week.
The reigning Players Champion announced his intentions from the start, posting an outrageous run of five straight 3s to begin the day. Young's surge out of the gates vaulted him up the leaderboard before the final few groups had even arrived at the golf course.
Young's seventh birdie on the 17th hole got him to 10-under for the tournament, but he closed with a bogey on 18.
So close to a par from the bunker on 18 for Cameron Young.

Now the waiting game begins for Young, with the final groups just finishing their front nine at Birkdale.
