This week marks the sixth time Shinnecock Hills has hosted the U.S. Open, and Wyndham Clark walked off the course Friday having reached a level previously unseen at the iconic venue.
Clark backed up a sizzling opening-round 64 with a solid 1-under 69, capping Friday's performance with a 33-footer for birdie on the 18th hole. That clutch shot moved him to 7-under through 36 holes to break the U.S. Open record at Shinnecock Hills previously held by Phil Mickelson and Shigeki Maruyama.

While the 2023 U.S. Open champion certainly got the easier side of the weather conditions, there's no doubt he's the best player through two rounds of this event. His 7-under total puts him four clear of Xander Schauffele and Matt Fitzpatrick, who share second.
